Publication History

Writing grants, newsletters, reports or other communication materials are all a way of telling your story.

The craft of storytelling plays an important role in conveying your organization's history, mission and vision. Interviewing authors like John Updike, Joyce Carol Oates, Reynolds Price and Alice Walker required paying close attention to their novels, short stories and essays. In nonprofit work, your story comes from the people you serve. The craft is in telling your story in a way that motivates people to act. Good writing engages the reader. Otherwise, they don't turn the page, volunteer, or give to your good cause.
